Cannot Boot to Recovery Mode

BA100

Newbie
Since accepting the OTA security patch a few weeks ago my battery life is awful. Sitting idle the battery will drain from 100% to 20% in eight hours. I have been unable to identify the app at the root of the issue. I decided to wipe the cache or if necessary perform a factory reset. Unfortunately, I cannot get the phone to boot into Recovery Mode to perform either action. Instead of the recovery menu the phone displays a red warning triangle with an exclamation point (see attached photo). Does anyone know what the issue is or should I just head to the Verizon store and have them wipe the phone? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi, that is normal. When you see the red triangle press and hold the power button then press and release volume up, you will then proceed to the recovery menu.

Wipe cache partition: HTC One M9

Be sure the phone is off.
Press and hold the Volume Down key.
Turn the phone on by pressing the Power key until the phone vibrates, then release Power.
Continue holding the Volume Down key.
Release the Volume Down key when the black screen with red and blue lines of text appears.

Press the Volume Down key repeatedly until reboot to bootloader is highlighted, then select it with the Power key.
The device will display a white screen with colored text.
Press the Volume Down key repeatedly until BOOT TO RECOVERY MODE is highlighted, then select it with the Power key.

The screen will display the white HTC screen, and then turn black. After several seconds, a picture of the phone with a red triangle and exclamation mark will appear.
Hold the Power key, while pressing and releasing the Volume up key. This can be done at any time after the screen turns black. If this button combination is pressed before the image of the phone with the red triangle appears, it may take several seconds for the recovery menu to appear at the top of the screen.

Press Volume Down repeatedly to highlight wipe cache partition.

Press the Power key to select wipe cache partition.
Once complete, press the Power key again to select reboot system now.

Thanks!!! Fortunately I have only had to wipe the cache one before. I don't recall the warning screen or the power+ volume up combo. The cache is clear. I hope that my power drain issue is resolved.
