Cannot connect to any Laptop or PC

Every time I try to connect to a Laptop or PC I get the message "Device not recognised". I used to sync with Samsung Smart Switch (which is still installed) and could download photos using the standard Windows download options that appear when you plag in a phone or camera.
I've tried various Laptops & PCs. None of them will recognise it.
I notice that this started happening after one of the regular Samsung updates - but that may have been a coincidence
The phone seems to work OK in all other respects.

Can anyone offer a suggestion?
