Root Cannot connect to camera

I'm new to rooting and custom roms. Yesterday I tried a few custom roms. I finally settled on Candy5. It's based on CM and from what I've read, CM pretty much always as camera problems. The camera works when it wants to work. Can't record video at all. Is there anyway to fix this? I don't want to switch to a new ROM. I really like this one.

Is Candy5 a 5.0 rom or 5.1/5.1.1 rom? If it's 5.0 it's best to move up to 5.1 where the camera is fixed
