Cannot delete extra phone number in a certain contact

Wife's phone is a galaxy S5. She has made a contact for her doctor but when she went to enter it she typo'd the number and saved it before realizing the error. She edited the contact with the correct number but it added the correct number for the contact instead of replacing the incorrect number so it shows 2 numbers for the contact. If she goes into edit the contact it shows only the correct number but if she goes to simply open the contact it shows both numbers. How the heck do we get rid of the wrong number? I tried deleting the correct number since thats the only one that shows during editing, then saved it, went to display and it shows the incorrect number. Go back into edit and shows no number so I re-enter the correct number, save, and go to display contact and there are both numbers again. WTF, mate???

There might be a way..go to your Google from the desk top(like when you go to check your emails)..go into contacts..and edit it from there..some times that happens because in the settings you have to your Google, the phone doesn't have certain privileges over the account..

Let us know.

Did the delete contact thing, re-entered, and now it's right. I would have tried Xavier's method at least for the experience but didn't read that one until I already tried Sol's. Thanks folks!
