Help Cannot disable call forwarding (UK T-Mobile)

If I go into Settings > Call Settings > Call Forwarding I see four options for call forwarding:

  • Always forward
  • Forward when busy
  • Forward when unanswered
  • Forward when unreachable

For all but the first option, when I select it I see the voicemail number along with an option to Disable. If I select Disable, the phone goes busy for a few seconds but then the options still says 'Forwarding to <voicemail number>. The ##20# and ##21# options don't work either.

Does anyone else get this? Is this T-Mobile policy to prevent the disabling of forwarding to voicemail?

The reason I want to disable this forwarding is that irrespective of the call allowance I have, T-Mobile charge me for accessing my voicemail. OK, maybe I should have read my T&Cs but I find that a bit devious, particularly as I never come close to using up my call allowance.

What is even more worrying is that I have read that if you are abroad T-Mobile charge you

There's an option on your account called 'Default call forward', it's there to send your calls to VM if there's a problem with the settings that you've set using your phone (so you don't miss any calls). If you ask to have this removed you'll be able to cancel and activate you VM using the setting on your phone.

Just tell them your thinking of going on holiday and don't want to incur charges for VM or received calls while abroad.
