Help Cannot enter phone settings

Motorola Droid Maxx, I go to phone settings, I get a message, " settings does not respond ". How is that possible? I've had this phone for two years, never experienced this before.

There isn't enough information to guess at what the problem is. Try rebooting the phone, or go into recovery mode and clear the cache (just cache, don't clear data or reset). Hopefully something simple and non-destructive like that will clear it.

(I don't know what button combination is needed to put a Motorola into recovery, but it should be on the web).
