Cannot get any file share to work with HTC Desire HD

Good evening all, this is my first post so here goes, I have recently set up a wireless file share network in my home and all of the files on my host PC are all shared. I want to browse with my HTC desire HD and have tried 4 different Apps to do this, Astro, Es, File expert and none of them work - Am I missing something on the PC ?? I have got correct IP address for host.

If your getting access denied.

Check:
1. Sharing settings - I usually put everyone full control (Security is based on the highest secrutiy between this and the next step. Setting this to full controll will remove sharing permissions from the equation, as NTFS permissions are more customizable.)

2. Security Settings - You can now play with these to recieve the desired affect. (You need to know what user the phone is connecting as)

** For testing you can make a empty share and set sharing and security settings to everyone full control add a test file and verify you can connect to the pc. If you can connect to the open share you know its your security settings.

** Where are these settings?
Right click Share Folder > Properties

Sharing
Sharing Tab > Advanced sharing > Tick "Share this folder" > Permissions

Security
Security Tab > Advanced > Change Permissions

ES is what I use because I like the Local / Remote tabs for file transfering and I've had no issues with my phone connecting to any of my PC's.

Phone: HTC Desire
PC: Windows 7 Home x64/Ultimate x86 and Server 2008 x86
