Cannot get TouchWiz update

I'm on my 2nd SGT 10.1. The first one had the newton's rings problem with the screen. Luckily the new one doesn't, but it has another problem...I cannot update the software. When I go to settings to do the OTA update, it says there is no update available. What's up with that? I've already done a full reset and still the same problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
 
I am having the same problem. I am being told by chat support that they are releasing the updates in batches but find that hard to believe. I hear people that go to update and it just updates.
 
One thing to make sure is that you have signed up and signed in to the Samsung account. I had problems doing this through the Update screens. But if you go to Settings, Accounts, and Add the Samsung account there that will help avoid possible problems when your update does arrive.
 
I have created my Samsung Account but it says the sync is off. Should the sync be on? And when I go to update it says there are no updates available.

Maybe you're already updated or just haven't received it yet. My sync is turned off as well. I don't see a specific touchwiz version number in 'About Tablet' settings. Here is what I do have:

Model Number GT-P7510
Android Version 3.1
Kernel Version 2.6.36.3 se.infra@SEP-52 #1
Build Number HMJ37.UEKMB P7510UEKMB
 
Thanks for the responses. I just called support, and they said the same thing 360jeff said, that they are releasing in batches, batches of 2,000 a day according to the person I spoke to. That seems totally unreasonable in my opinion. So, if they've sold 100,000 tablets, someone is going to be waiting 50 days for their update? That's ridiculous and totally unacceptable.

Hmm, now you got me thinking...maybe I don't have the update either? When I bought 4 days ago I did A update, but it could of been an older one maybe.

Based on what the UI looks like I know I do not have the update. I bought mine off of Craigslist and the model number when I Google it comes up with a bunch of foreign websites.

My model is GT-P7510UW

360jeff, I have the exact same info as you. I guess we're the unlucky ones. Haha.
 
All Android updates are released in waves and wifi only versions and lte versions will often be on different schedules too. Generally small batches will start out and after a short period of no issues the number of units getting the update each day will start to drastically increase.
 
i just got off of the phone with tier 2 support. They told me that the servers are off and no one is getting the update now.

They also said that your gmail email can not be same as the samsung account you create on the tablet.

That sucks, that means you have to create a separate gmail account just for your tab and another one for a Samsung account. That is just dumb
 
I'm not sure hat Samsung account you all are talking about. I went on to software update as well as accounts and see no option to add any type of Samsung account. I'm almost positive no special Samsung accounts are required to get the update. That's all done through Google and either your Google account or meid/imei or something of that nature. A Samsung account may be an option after touch wiz but I doubt it has anything to do with getting the update.

I might have not been so clear. You can use your gmail account that you have always used. You just need to use a different email address; yahoo, msn or something else to sign up for the samsung account.

My tablet is a wifi, therefore it will not be getting updates via a carrier. With the wifi tablets you need a samsung account which you create on the tablet. They told me the gmail account associated to the tablet can not be used for the samsung account. Why, I have no clue, it is not like they are even tied together or from the same companies. I am just doing as they have told me.
 
Forgive me for being a simpleton, how do I know if I have the update.I've not updated it myself and I was one of the first to pick one up in the uk in a prerelease launch at the start of august. I am assuming it came with the update preinstalled as I have the mini app tray at the bottom.how can I check if I definitely have it as I don't know what it was like before the update.

Oh ok I have a hotmail account I will use that then to create my Samsung account then. That clears it up

That doesn't make any sense. This is my 2nd SGT 10.1. I used my gmail account as my Samsung account to download the update on my 1st SGT 10.1, so obviously the support person doesn't know what he's talking about.

360jeff, please keep me posted if/when you ever get the update, and I'll do the same. I'm giving these guys a week to get me the update. It is ridiculous these guys can't get their act together. Btw, my samsung account sync shows OFF. I don't know if this is normal or not, perhaps it's part of the problem.

The easiest way to tell you have the upgrade is if you have an UP arrow at the bottom center of the screen.
