Cannot login to any Google account on Xiaomi Poco X3

Hi all,

I am new to the forum so please bear with me if I make any basic errors!

My problem is that I am unable to sign in to any Google app account on my Xiaomi Poco. The phone was working fine, but a week ago it started requesting 2-factor login for my Gmail account, then when I followed the required steps it would show the "Just a sec" message and eventually revert back to the original login page, with no error/fail message.

I'm unsure what has prompted this. The login problem occurs across all Google apps (Maps, Play store, Gmail). Does anyone have any advice (short of a factory reset)?

Thanks

Gmail is now implementing 2FA (Google prefers to call it 2SV or Two-Step Verification) by default as a basic security and privacy measure. You do need to initially set up 2SV to authorize whichever email app you're using. Don't skip it, you'll just continue to receive periodic reminders and prompts until you do.

Thanks. But the thing is, whether I use 2FA or not, I cannot log in. When I tried with 2FA I gave authorisation on the secondary device and was returned back to login. Same thing when I switched 2FA off. Any ideas?

If you are locked out of your Google account that does add a lot of complications, you're going to need to go through a process of account recovery:

You need to provide enough proof of your identity to regain control, Google won't just open your account back up to you on a whim.
Enable 2SV, it's a something to help enforce how you authenticate yourself with your account.

Hi Svim,

It's not clear that I am locked out. As mentioned, I can use my Google accounts on other devices, but not on the phone. It seems to be more of a login issue on the phone.

OK, I misinterpreted the situation you stated. So it's not surprising you can't access your various Google services on this phone at this point, the phone is essentially not authorized to your Google account now that it's hung up on this 2SV matter.
Have you tried just restarting your phone and retrying the 2SV set up process again?

I had a maybe different Google account connection problem on my Poco F2 before, and occasionally after, the MIUI 13 & Android 12 update earlier this year.
"Network error" Try later" something like that. I could use all other apps and had very high data speeds.

Are you seeing your account on Google apps?

Is your phone recognised on your account?

Try: https://myaccount.google.com/security

then Devices.

Do you have MIUI 13 and Android 12? Are the Google Play system updates and Security updates within 3 months roughly?
Settings - Passwords and Security - Privacy. This may be a red herring in your case.

Are you locked out of the phone? Can you open Google apps? Do you have any account Avatar on the Google or Chrome app?
I may misunderstand where you are now.

Hi,

The phone is recognised in the devices section of my account.

All system apps are up to date.

I am not locked out of the phone.

I can open Google apps but can't login to any of them.

Your phone won't be able to connect to your different Google apps until you get that Google account login matter straightened out. Your Poco X3 is stuck in that 2SV implementation step.

Still hard to understand what you are seeing on your Poco X3. I appreciate you may not be able to post screenshots in that configuration.

I could aak many more questions, such as Settings -- Google - Manage accounts on this Device.

No account Avatar on Chrome, Google app, Maps, Maps - Timeline

If you have your Xiaomi account number showing, you can use the Xiaomi Community Forum app to raise a question - though that may not have downloaded or updated from the former Mi Community app.

I don't know where you are now. Any luck elsewhere?
Did you buy it through Xiaomi direct / Amazon Xiaomi store.

Out of interest I didn't have Google 2 Factor Authentication activated on my Poco, though I have temporarily tried it in the last few days. It may cause issues for me, but all my 4 phones (2 active, 2 older as spare) have worked OK.

In fact, as well as the Forum app, or instead of, better to use the Services and Feedback at the Bottom of the Settings screen and submit a Feedback question, as I did in February.

My issue then may not be tied in with yours now, but if you cannot still use Google (which I find hard to understand, do Maps and Chrome function) it's worth a shot.
I took many screenshots of my Google problems but I'm struggling to find most of them at the moment.
As said by svim and others, it may be entirely Google related in your case and nothing to do with Xiaomi / Poco but you may get help there.

I'm struggling with the exact same thing since Saturday (3 days) creating significant detriment as I'm abroad and can't access anything using google on my phone's apps. Any help would be much appreciated please

Please let me know if you've find a solution, I have the exact same issue since a couple of days as well (no problems with my google account on any other devices such as samsung table or windows laptop, only on my poco x3). I can enter all my login details but then it'll just load and ultimately go back to the login screen without any error message or such.

I've tried clearing all my cache regarding google apps and switch from 2FA to single PW and back but still same issue.

Seeing this is another person with the same problem I'm thinking since Xiaomi is built in China, there's something in the hardware that is causing the problem

At first I indeed thought it could be a xiaomi google issue. However, I noted I have the same issue with the Mi account (correct credentials - loading - back to login screen without error message) and logging into to my onedrive account as well (where the phone does give a message there is some account mgmt issue and restartshould fix it, which it doesn't). Hence very desperate for a solution other than hard reset

OP here. No solution found. I think it's just a garbage phone manufacturer and I'm going to have to eventually bite the bullet and get a decent phone again.

I had the same issue. Make sure you are logged off with the Google user. Log in to Mi account by entering your google user, not by signing in with Google user. After you succeed to log in to Mi account, the Google account appears as signed in :)

This issue is now critical. Whatsapp requires an update which I am unable to do because Play store app does not work. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this issue!!!

Where do I log in to Mi Account?
