I cannot upgrade google play services. I keep getting "Authentication required. Please login into your google account"

None of the goggled solutions seem to quite work.

I cannot remove and re-add the account. There is no such option. I can only "delete the account"; this is pretty ominous and is not something I want to do.

I changed my password and my note 5 asked me to login again. I did. But still I cannot update google play services.

I have a note 5.

So are you saying you can't log in to your Google account on your Note 5 to update Google Play Services because it's not recognizing your new password you entered,?

Deleting your account only removes it from the device - it will not deactivate the account with Google. But if that's the primary account you use to log in, you probably wouldn't be able to delete it, anyway.

I can suggest that you shut down the Note 5. Go to Google.com on the PC and log in. Make sure that the Note 5 is active on the account... then boot up the Note 5 and try logging in.

If that fails, turn it off, go back to the PC and log in, then deactivate the Note 5. Once it's deactivated, activate your Note 5 from scratch. When that's done, try booting up your Note 5 again, making sure that any changes in password are noted as you log in again.
