Help Cant clear cache because phone is locked?

Lurker
So I'm trying to clear the cache on my phone but when I get to the boot menu and select recovery I find that my phone is locked and I can't do it? How do I fix this?

You're in fastboot, wrong place

Power off your phone

Hold all three buttons until it starts

When you are in the boot menu, select RECOVERY with the up volume button.

When the Android with the red exclamation comes up, hit both volume buttons at the same time

From there you scroll to where it says wipe cache

Select with POWER button this time

Another screen with pop up, scroll to where it says yes, and select with power again

When it's done just hit reboot phone using the power button.

That should do it

Is doing this better than using the app "Cache Cleaner" I have always wondered if it is actually doing anything or not.

So I get into the droid guy laying on his back with triagle with ! in it and then I press the volume up and down at same time and it does nothing at all. Any suggestions or help?

From Verizon website ...
  1. Power the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Down button then press the Power button.
  3. When presented with the Boot Mode Selection Menu, release all buttons.
  4. Press Volume Down button to select 'Recovery' then press the Volume Up button.
  5. From the Droid triage screen:
  6. Press and hold the Volume down button.
  7. Press and release the Volume up button.
  8. Release the Volume down button.
  9. Select wipe cache partition then press the Power button.
