Can't connect Galaxy S4 to Kenwood stereo through USB

[Android Question]

I just bought a Galaxy S4 Active and tried to plug in my USB to my Kenwood stereo so I could listen to music and charge it but it only charges. The stereo doesn't even recognize the phone. I had an Iphone before and everything worked fine. Why won't my new phone connect? Id use bluetooth but I have really nice speakers and subs and I wouldn't be getting my moneys worth with the bluetooth sound quality.

Welcome to Android Forums. Apple does some proprietary stuff with its cables to enable the music over the USB connection that isn't part of the USB standard. Android sticks with the USB standard so bluetooth is your only option. FWIW, don't notice a difference using bluetooth vs. a direct connection.
