Help Can't connect to computer

Recently, I've been attempting to root and then apply ROMs to my HTC Tattoo. All was going smoothly, until part way through the root process, my computer starting unleashing a wave of the "device mounted" and "device unmounted" sounds. After opening My Computer, I confirmed that my phone was mounting and unmounting in a continuous loop. Every time I plug it in now, it does this. It also seems to think it's connected to a computer when it's only plugged into the wall charger.

Suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Welcome aboard the forums, ben_underoath.

Sorry you've having those issues. It sounds to me like two possibilities (with the additional possibility that both could be happening ;)): 1. old device drivers installed in your machine for the Tattoo, and 2. a loose or poor connection via the USB cable.

It's easy to test for #2. ;) Just get another one and see if that remedies things.

#1 requires you hunt down and install the latest drivers for your Tattoo and your computer OS type (Windows 7? Vista? Mac? .. etc).

As a faint, but still possible, additional remedy, I'd also try unmounting and removing the SD card temporarily (with the device not connected to the computer, of course), then put it back in and remount.

Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit. The thing that's puzzling me is the fact that it just started out of the blue. I didn't get any warnings for it. I'll try and hunt down a different cable, and I'll wipe HTC Sync from the computer and reinstall for the drivers. I have tried the SD card suggestion, no dice.

I am having the same trouble. when i connect it to my computer via USB, it just acts as though it is charging. I cannot find my device on 'my computer' either
