Help Can't connect to NAS with ES File Explorer

Ninko

Newbie
Hi,
I'm trying to connect to my Synology NAS via ES File Explorer but when I pop in my user name and password after scanning the network for the NAS nothing happens, it just takes the user name and password out as if to say their wrong, but their not.
I then tried adding the NAS manually, but no matter what I enter it reports back saying the server cannot be found, which is odd when it finds it when I get it to scan the network, hence what I tried above.
I'm at a loss of what to do, could you help please? I'm using the PRO version of ES File Explorer, don't know if that makes a difference.

Thanks

Ninko

Got an Addonics USB to Ethernet NAS adapter with a 1TB Toshiba USB Drive. Connected to my Comcast Router. I had some initial problems logging into it from Windows 10 . Found the IP address and connected through Chrome on my Android Tablet. Found out I had to format the drive again before it would work with the NAS.

For some reason I can connect to it fine now from Windows. Also from Android. Kodi on my Nexus Player and ES Explorer on my Tablet.

Streams Movies now with no problems on all devices. Very pleased with it.

I don't use ES File Explorer anymore because of the security risk.

So I can't be of great help, but it's not clear to me exactly what kind of file sharing you're attempting.
  • Are you trying to access a Samba (SMB) share on the NAS? An FTP server? DLNA?
  • Is/are the NAS shares password protected?
  • Can you access them from any other device? Android? PC? Mac?
  • Can you access them from any other app, like Server Ultimate?
