when i try to delete the files it says it cant b/c its a read only file. and yes i did hit the r/o r/w button. but for some reason when i go into the cust file the r/o r/w button dissapears... please help

Also depends what device - some (like mine) need NAND security disabled ("S-Off" ) in addition to root before you can delete system files.

try updating to a newer version of root explorer mine wouldnt do it either, i checked it was rooted and all that, so i uninstalled root explorer (2.9.3) and downloaded 2.19 version and it worked was able to delete the apps i didnt want i have the tokidoki edition but it should work fine for all im guessin

I tried THREE different root explorers: Titanium Backup, System ROM Toolbox, & Root Browser Lite. I cannot & will not pay for any pro versions of anything. None of the three I've tried on my Huawei M835 have successfully deleted any of the metroPCS bloatware. At least I managed to delete Documents to Go & VCPay. That helped. But can anyone suggest any root explorer that is FREE that WILL delete them even if they're "read-only"?

Well you can backup apps with Titanium Backup, then partion /cust with UltraJack Recovery

Or pull cust with ADB then delete bloatware you dont want then push back to phone then fix permissions

This is what I wanna do. But I'm quite a n00b when it comes to flashing or rooting. Whatever suggestions you give must have as little reading as possible. I really don't read well but have to use this technology to stay connected & entertained.
