Help Can't delete icons from homescreen?

I'm having a lot of problems with a used Droid 2. I'm trying to delete an icon off one of my screens, but when I long press nothing happens. I can't long press the screen and add other apps either. I tried powering off and powering back on my phone. Can someone help?

Can you longpress anything else, like a contact name?
Are you using a custom launcher? If so, try disabling it.
I presume you’re not rooted...

if that doesnt work, you may want to try sbfing to stock settings, and if it is still an issue, you may have a damaged screen and need the phone replaced, or the screen replaced
