Help CANT DELETE MESSAGES

I'm running 4.4 on my LG g3 and I have too many messages with my girlfriend. I've tried deleting them with all my sms apps (default, go sms pro, hangouts) it's just makes my phone crash most of the time. I'm wondering if there is any back-door to deleting my messages? Need help nothing will work except go sms pro and I'm tired of it. Thanks

Hi

You could try an app called History Eraser by Infolife LLC on playstore. It lets you select SMS from a particular person(s) for deletion by using its side menu.

I just left my phone on that app for an hour and it only deleted about a thousand. It seems stupid to me that you can't even delete your messages

One way is to factory reset your phone. Unless backed up, all SMS's and call logs will be lost/wiped. Obviously everything else you want to keep needs to be backed up but thats fairly easy if you use google extensively. I think the issue is that SMS's are stored in one big database (in a folder which you cannot access unless you have root access). Once it gets really big its hard for a phone to process/edit it unless it has lots of free memory. It sounds like you have thousands of SMS saved......

Well, i havent experienced something like this in a long time (not since Android 2.3), but I'll just advice you to next time set the sms app to auto delete. Most sms apps have this setting. I have mine (EvolveSMS) set to keep only the 200 newest messages per thread. The app auto deletes the oldest everytime a new one comes in.
