Can't delete photos on my Asus tablet

Somehow I accidentally took thousands of black photos and when I tried to delete them they went to the trash all right but were also still in the gallery. I emptied the trash, there are no items there now, but all the black photos are still in the gallery. I restarted the tablet but the black photos remain. They are still also backed up at photos.google.com. Help!

Uninstall Google photos from the phone.
Delete your photos off the phone.
Login to photos.Google.com and delete from there also.
Done.

I finally got all the black photos deleted by only deleting a couple hundred or so of them at a time, then immediately emptying the trash where they get sent, and repeating this process until finally all the black boxes were gone. Yes! So glad.
I didn't want to do anything that would delete all my photos because some are good and I want to keep them.
