Can't Delete Text in Inbox? Help Needed

Hi all, I can't seem to delete texts in my inbox. I hold/highlight the the text group from "person x", hit the trashcan, but it doesn't delete them.

I'm running Android 4.1.2 on a RAZR Maxx.
 
Did you protect the conversation on accident? Have you tried to go into the conversation, then hit the menu button, then delete? You could also do a soft reset on phone (hold both the power and volume down buttons down at same time for 10-20 seconds) the phone will power off and reboot, then try again!

Will this delete my apps, icon set up, etc?
 
Still not able to delete text.
Convo not protected.
Tried deleting, no luck.
Power & volume down is my screen shot :)
Other advise? Trying to avoid losing phone settings, work Email, etc with a total reset.
 
Yes that also takes screen shots, you need to keep both buttons held down a little longer til screen goes black, then phone will power off and reboot on its own
