Can't download any apps

I recently cleaned up my J3 OS 5.1.1 of Apps I thought I never used, one being Play Store. This triggered my problem of being unable to download any Apps including Play Store, Outlook, games, etc.
The first time I try installing anything it says the App will be installed soon, but it never does. The second time I click to install any App(including Play Store), it shows they have already been installed, but they are not listed in the App Mgr even after a phone reboot
I have turned on the setting to allow unknown sources for update. No troubleshooting guides have helped.

Uninstalled via the App Manager

Is your phone rooted? (or did it come from the chinese market?) because normally you can't uninstall the play store that way...

It is rooted. Yes. I wish it had not allowed me to do so. I read an article which listed what you could uninstall and I believe it was listed there.

Have you tried using the file manager and go to your download folder to find the downloaded files? You might be able to install them from there

The download history does not show they were ever downloaded.

I see the Play Store App on apkmiirror, but I do not see anything whih can be downloaded from it

Forget the play store app, can you download and install any apk's from the site?

No. I clicked the down arrow, it goes to a screen for that app and there is no place to start a download

I found APKPURE.COM allowed me to download and install the Apps. Thank you
