Cant find or remove file

I have a file that only appears in the download directory when posting to a forum or such. Its in the top download selection menu. I have used search programs like sd maid and it cant find the file. It must be in the emulated directory but not accessible. Dont really want to root the phone. To my knowledge, you should be able to access emulated data on a non rooted. Instead of SD Maid try using your stock file manager
and look to internal "downloads". If you cnt find it there the check external sd "downloads"

Connect to a pc and delete the offending file

Look for the settings in your file manager, and select 'show hidden files'.
