Help cant get into download mode

hi i just got the Samsung Galaxy Portal gt-i5700 from three and have tried for hours to enter download mode to root but cannot

ive tried full reset removing battery for 15mins holding keys at the same time and in order vol down+cam+end call nothing will work

still not having any luck with download mode have samsung removed it??
would the 301k resistor on micro usb work?

samsung have disabled this on most new handsets. however you can reinstall it. i had sam issue with galaxy s
