Android thinks that Pocket Casts is gobbling up internal storage for podcasts, even though I've asked it to use the SD card and even though it actually seems to be storing them there.
My Galaxy Luna has only 8 GB of internal storage, so I'm always running short. I have a 128 GB SD card with plenty of free space. Pocket Casts a storage setting and I've selected "Settings, Storage, Store podcasts on: SD card." Furthermore, Samsung My Files" is showing what look like my podcasts in "SD Card > Android > data > au.com.shiftyjelly.pocketcasts > files > PocketCasts > podcasts"
Nevertheless, all storage management functions act as if the podcasts were being stored in internal storage. For example, the main Settings, Applications, Pocket Casts, Application info screen shows "1.38 GB of internal storage used." Smart Manager is unable to free up internal storage, and the amount of "internal storage" available decreases when new podcasts are downloaded, and increases when old podcasts are deleted.
My impression is that Pocket Casts is actually is storing the podcasts on the SD card, but that because of a bug either in Pocket Casts or in Android itself, the storage is incorrectly being attributed to internal storage.
Has anyone else encountered this or have any ideas about what to do about it? Pocket Casts never responded to my bug report (I'll try again).
Pocket Casts 6.3.1
Device name SM-S120VL, Model number SM-S120VL
Android version 6.0.1
Samsung “Galaxy Luna” (Tracfone model)
I like Pocket Casts, but my requirements for a podcast app are pretty simple--the only really important thing is the ability to store podcasts on the SD card, and to accept "custom episodes," i.e. allow arbitrary .mp3 files to be imported into. If any can suggest a nice, solid, well-liked alternative to Pocket Casts I'd be willing to give it a try.
