Can't install new apps because low on storage.

I have an LG 8300. I'm having trouble installing new apps because I get the message that my storage is full. I apparently am down to 20MB of 256MB on my internal storage, but have over 10GB free on my SD card. Yet the device is telling me I can't download apps because my device is full!

I've moved every app I can to the SD card, my music is on the SD card, I've cleaned out my text messages, and have an app that deletes junk files, yet I can't free enough space. So I basically have two questions:

1) What is eating up all my storage space? Last time I reset to factory I had plenty of space yet over time my internal space seems to dwindle despite moving all my apps to SD. I downloaded ES file explorer but can't find the folder that's holding all that crap. Possibly I have videos taking up some space but can't find how to get rid of them.

2) Is it possible to install apps directly to the SD card? It doesn't seem right that I have all this storage space available on SD but because internal is being hogged up by something I can't download anything more.

Thanks!

That's usually the problem with low end devices, and how the operating system handles storage.

The external SD isn't an extension of the internal hard drive. Apps don't get moved entirely to the sd card. A part of them requires to stay in the internal memory. So as you install more apps, the memory gets used up.

same problem. I have to delete apps for freeing space . But I can install by download apps directly from browser. Google play doesn't allow me to download or installation.

Damn I need a new phone. Friggin only 256MB . I also noticed that there are certain apps that a) I can't uninstall, and b) will not allow themselves to move to SD. For example, I have Google Play and some other app taking about 40MB of space, but "Move to SD card" is disabled.

All you need to do is make a 2nd partition from your external sd card using "mini tool" and use "link2sd". This lets you move apps, files, etc etc to the external or internal sd card from your internal memory. I opened up about 500 mb of free space off my internal memory. Its a very easy process and plenty of tutorials online you can search for. Also you can enable link2SD to automatically create links on the partition (external sd) when downloading. You of course need to be rooted and deleting bloatware and all unused apks opens up alot of free space to.

Hope this helps

Ps To add native app2sd only moves a small amount to the sd card. This is where link2sd comes in.
