So I have an android lg optimus and I had it for a couple of months. I've downloaded moboplayer from the market and I tried to play one of my shows. It plays and as pretty good definition but it is really laggy (like running really slowly) and the sound just skips and skips (you just hear glipses of sound). Would it be the moboplayer or the android? Could it be that the show is in divx format? Help?

Most likely the video is too complex for your phone to be decoding it. So, a more powerful Android phone could play it more fluently.
A more practical solution is to convert videos according to standard H264 standard MP4 videos (for example using Handbrake). Don't forget to use the correct video resolution.
