Help Can't remove app shortcut

I downloaded the kik app and ended up making some weird ghost shortcut on my homescreen that I can't even select. I have uninstalled the app and it is still showing up. Can someone help me get rid of it. I am on an LG G3. I've included a picture of the problem.

What happens when you long-press the icon? (touch and hold for a few seconds?) You should be able to delete it from the home screen by simply long-pressing and then dragging to a trash can that appears at the top or bottom of your screen.
 
I tried that... It's weird, I can't even interact with the icon anymore, it's as if it's become apart of my wallpaper, lol. Even when I look at all my apps,I can see the ghostlike Kik icon behind all the apps that are actually on my phone. I've uninstalled Kik already thinking that it would get rid of the icon bit it's still there.
 
Hmmm, you might have to clear the data on your launcher. Of course that means you'll have to reset your home screens, but it should get rid of the rogue icon.
 
I chose Nova, lol. Was that a good choice? I'm kind of new to all this, been using a flip phone for years.
