Root Can't Restart Phone

Hi everyone, I am new here and it seems like a very good forum I'm happy I found this place.

Yesterday I bought a used Motorola Razr HD XT925 I think it's the equivalent of a Motorola Droid HD.

It was locked to Fido, so I got a unlock code to be able to use it with Bell.
everything seem fine untill I close to phone and restarted it...
Now everytime I restart the phone there's a Android toon that falls on his back and a red exclamation mark comes out of him... I really don't know what to do to fix this... The only thing I know is everytime I restart the phone I have to hold power & Volume + and it bypass that android thing but the problem is EVERYTIME I lose everything in the phone...

any clue what I can do to fix this problem?

thank you

When that little Droid symbol comes up try pushing the power button, this should bring up the stock recovery menu, then use volume down to scroll down to back up then use volume up to select, after your backup is created successfully go to reboot and select... Not positive this will fix your problem but it's worth a try...

Are you using ms exchange or another wipe capable app? Could be when you swapped sim cards you triggered that and if you are doing an auto restore for settings or smothing. just some thoughts.
