Root Cant seem to boot into recovery mode

How do i boot into recovery mode. Ive pressed the on button then pressed and held the upp volume button but its just stuck at the green alein thing.

I have to take out the batery and put it back in in order to turn it off. If i boot normaly it works.

I want to create a back up, thats all.

thats for clockwork recovery. I tried downbutton two but it comse up with a screen saying something like fmp or something.

clockwork is where you do the nandroid backup, or at least where i do. make sure you hold the - button, then hold down the power button to boot up and keep holding the - button for a good five seconds or so after that. Then choose backup and restore>backup. job done.
