i have a motarola droid 4 and i have a pattern lock on it currently... when i try to turn it off it is gayed and says"disables by administrator, encryption policy, or credencial storage... i have tried many things in settings>security and screen lock.... HELP!

Check and see if there are any device administrators activated. There will be an option for that under security. If there aren't any there, then we probably need more information. To add information, please resubmit your question or join the forums and check with the people in the Droid 4 forums located here: Motorola Droid 4 - Android Forums

Did you by chance enable a device administrator or encrypt your phone? If you did, you'll have to disable them before you can remove the locking mechanism.

I had to replace my Droid 4 (power button quit working), and one of the setup programs turned on the screen pattern lock.

Drove me CRAZY until I discovered this:
Try hitting Menu -> System settings -> Security & Screen Lock. Near the top of the screen, right underneath "SCREEN SECURITY" it should say:

Screen lock
Pattern

Press it, the screen should now say "Confirm saved pattern" and present the nine dot array. Put in your screen pattern (you may have to do it twice) and the next screen should show all the screen lock options: None, Slide, Face Unlock, Pattern, PIN and Password.

Choose the one you want.
