Can't update Google Maps - my options?

Hi - I just got my first Android phone a few weeks ago. So far all has gone well, however today I received a notice that Google Maps has an update, as well as a few other apps. All of the apps updated just fine except Google Maps, which keeps giving me a spinning cursor.

I did some searching and have seen problems related to "rooted" phones, however my phone is not rooted and never has been. It is a brand new Galaxy II s. I have tried the update on 3G, 4G and Wifi, makes no difference. Not sure what to do, I keep trying, it keeps just getting hung up with a spinning cursor?

It took several tries for google maps to download and install for me as well...and it is like that it seems for each new update. Maybe if you try to do the update while connected to wifi you might have some success.

Ive had that happen... They end up here...

I think the updates go through though because they work fine and there no way to update...
