Can't use keypad while on a call

Hello,
I can't enter my pass code for my voice mail. I have pushed the icon that brings up the keypad with numbers but it won't stay active long enough to enter the numbers it keeps flashing off. What can I do to correct this?

Two things I would check; first make sure you aren't covering the "ear sensor" that makes the phone think it is against your face, that will turn off the screen.

Also be sure the screen is clean, especially where the sensors are.

Secondly, check your setting for the screen to turn off. It may have been reduced way down by a battery saver app or something else.
