Canvas not charging

I plugged the Canvas into the PC and it was charging it only part of the time, with power on of course. Eventually I unplugged it and tried to replug it into the wall socket, but it isn't working. I have maybe 30 percent left. I've tried plugging it in upside down, wiggling it, using different sockets. There isn't the charge light on the phone either. What do I do?

I guess it was just a crappy charger. I plugged in a brand new charger that I just took out of the box and it seems fine now. It's a good thing because it was at 16%.

You have to watch the amp rating for chargers. Some phones require 1A or greater to even start charging. A PC usb 2.o port only gives you 500mA and while USB 3.0 give you a little more, it still might not be enough to charge a phone, especially when it's on.

How do I find the requirements for the Coolpad Canvas? How do I find what a charger provides? Should I not waste time trying to keep the phone charged by plugging it into the PC!

The simple, cheap test is to plug it into your PC and it will either charge or it wont charge. If there is enough current to charge, it should be okay, but it will also charge much more slowly than if you had a higher powered charger. Now, before you run out and by a 50 Amp charger  the phone/battery circuitry will only draw what it can so if it's capacity is 1.2A, then that's all you need.

As for finding out the true specs on that, all the website says is it's a 2500mAh battery, nothing about charging. The original charger might give you a clue in really tiny print about what kind of current it provides. That's a pretty good indicator of capacity.
