Capitol "U"s appear in received texts

When I get texts from a certain person "U" show up throughout the text. Usually
they are at the beginning and end of a sentence. This person is not the account holder
of the phone and the phone is on a shared plan. The phone is an iphone4 from/on att.
Is this an indication that the phone is being tracked?

No, its an indication that something in the transport of the message from one carrier to another makes the beginning and end of a sentence appear as a U instead of a space or a punctuation mark.

If the phone was being tracked there would be more black helicopters flying around you. :D
