I'm stuck with an AT&T contract (employer has a killer discount). I was gonna go for the iphone4 in August, but had doubts.

Been doing research into Droid for the past few months and was set on Captivate (especially after seeing friends with FroYo Androids). I've played with the Streak when it came out and again recently (on 1.6, though) and unimpressed, but Froyo could fix what is wrong with it. If Captivate had 2.2 released, this would be a no-brainer, but the GPS and flash-fix has me spooked.

On AT&T, those are really my only 2 choices for a media-centered cell experience

*crap, wrong subforum - can this be moved to general section?

I have a Captivate and if I had to choose, I would still go with the Captivate. However these phones are on bar with eachother.

The main differences are
The Captivate has the 1 GHz hummingbird and the Dell has the 1GHz snapdragon
Both have the same 5 MP camera, but Captivate does 720P video recording
They both have a 480X800 resolution, but the Dell has a 5" screen and the Captivate has a 4" screen
Captivate has 2.1 hopefully 2.2, whereas the Dell has 1.6??? wierd and it says it is upgradeable, but we will see.
If you plan on using GPS, and it may be big for some people, you may want to go with the dell, I hear the GPS is perfect on the Dell

One big difference, is the captivate is a version of the Galaxy S and has a huge following, so there are a lot of devs out there working on making the phone better. I don't know if the same goes for the Dell.

Good luck on your choice.

I voted for Captivate - I saw the size of the Dell today, and as a phone I find it entirely too large. Captivate pushes it for me as it is, but seems worth it ... Dell is like a not-big-enough tablet, not something I'd want constantly on me as a phone.

All the feedback I've heard is that the Streak is too ridiculously large to be practical as a "phone". This overshadows the quirks with the Captivate.
