Help car bluetooth driving me crazy

Hey everyone! I just joined and was wondering if someone could help me
I recently bought a VW Touareg (2016) and whenever I connect my phone (samsung galaxy s6 edge) via bluetooth, the phone acts as though there is no sim inserted. Meaning I cannot make calls through the phone (but I can make the call from the car itself) and more importantly mobile internet also stops working. This means I can't stream music from soundcloud or youtube and have it play via bluetooth media for example, since the internet gets cut off. My texts on viber and whatsapp will also stop coming through as there is no internet until I disconnect bluetooth or stop the car. Only regular SMS and calls come through and show on the car (not on the phone!).
When I used to connect my phone to an earpiece accessory, the phone connected to it via bluetooth and kept functioning as normal, but when connected to the car the symbol on the notification bar shows no signal and no 4G internet
Is this something I can fix or should I be asking on a Touareg forum?

Thanks in advance!

Marian

I think this is a Bluetooth thing, something with an active Bluetooth connection interfering with the other radios. The fix in the past (and, sorry, I don't remember which phone I had that did this) was to go into menu>settings>WiFi and then tap the menu>advanced>WiFi frequency band and set it to 2.4 ghz only

Thanks for your reply
I can't seem to find advanced settings under wifi settings.
I hope someone can figure this out!

It may be a safety feature also. But when you are in the WiFi settings you need to press the menu button. In Samsung, I believe it is the bottom hard key on the left. From there choose Advanced Settings....
I can't find that setting in my S-5 though. There's Smart Switch....

Ugh. I just checked on my Galaxy Tab and my wife's S3 and I couldn't find the setting there either. I'm going to move this to the S6 forums so hopefully other Sammy owners can find it.

Ok thanks a bunch!
Yeah quick update which drove me even crazier, I played around with bluetooth settings on the phone for the paired connection to the car and switched off 'sim access' and i noticed that the phone worked (but the car wouldn't make any calls from the phone) so i switched it back on, and when i did that it worked perfectly fine! car connected to phone and phone still having connectivity, i was so happy then I left the car and when i went back for the drive home it went back to how it was with the phone either connecting to the car or having connectivity itself. tried to do the same thing i did this morning but it didnt work a second time. i notice that as long as i have 'remote sim access' showing on my notification bar it's like i've literally taken the sim card out and put it in the car instead, when it worked earlier this morning after fiddling with it 'remote sim access' wasn't showing on the notification bar anymore and i could stream soundcloud and still make calls from the car and everything :(
