Car Charger

I have an old retractable charger that is causing my phone to give an error message that charging is suspended due to over voltage. I've seen one before about excessive heat. I am using it to retain as much charge as possible during navigation/ Waze/ gas buddy usage while traveling. However, it does quickly reach an almost completely discharged state. Is there a charger out there that will basically give a 1 amp charge. I've seen some dual chargers on Amazon, etc. Does anyone have a recommendation for one that will work with my Epic Touch?
