A little background ... just bought a 2011 Mitsubishi about a month ago and have been getting to know the on-board systems. I paired my Nexus to the bluetooth hands-free with no problems and voice dial works as it's supposed to. What I didn't realize was that it will also stream music via bluetooth. I found this out when I thought the radio was playing a bunch of my favorite tunes commercial free but it turned out to be the most recent playlist on my phone.
Bluetooth is actually easier because for the USB port to recognize the phone as a music source, I must mount it as a storage device. My iPod nano (3rd gen) works very well connected to the USB, but it's a hassle setting it up in the center console where the USB port is located. I found out, however that my son's iPod touch is not compatible and after doing a little research in the Mistubishi forums, I found out that any iDevice running iOS 4.1 or later won't work as a music player via USB with their system. A lot of iPhone and iPod owners are pissed at Mitsubishi.
It raises a bunch of questions.
Is this a Mitsubishi shortcoming or an iOS problem? Are there any other car manufacturers having similar issues? Are there any Android devices that don't play nice with current cars' USB or Bluetooth systems?
