Help Car Dock Mode

I recall in another thread someone mentioned that their phone didn't read things out loud while in car dock mode. I'm still having this problem & it's driving me nuts. Has there been any kind of fix for this? Is there a setting I need to tweak? Anything?

is hands free mode on to check just push genius button say hands free mode on only reason I have ever used the genius button
