Car Parking apps - general thoughts

AZgl1500

Extreme Android User
I'm 73 years young now, and at least of heart no older than maybe 19??

But the realities of life have hampered my ability to Remember things... Especially when I am doing Repetitive Things day after day after day..... Add to this, in 2008 an 18 wheeler sidelined me while I was riding my Honda GL1500 motorcycle... put me into the center median wall.... the force was bad enough it pulled my helmet off of my head..... my jacket and protective ballistic rated gear are what saved my life... that and a very fast 1st Responder team who got me into the best Acute Care hospital in the state of Arizona within 8 minutes of the accident.

That accident resulted in 3 concussions, one of which destroyed my short term memory...

So, with my wife now being a near permanent hospital patient for the last 8 weeks ( diabetes and foot injury ) and weeks unknown yet to go ( toes amputated to save her life ).... I am parking my car in a huge area and come night-fall, WTH did I park that car?

I had used "My Car Locator Free" for a long time, but rebuilding the Note 4 after a failure of the 1st Note 4, it got lost in the fray.....

Then I read here on this forum of "Parkify" and I actually paid for it to get rid of the adverts. But, Parkify has a Huge Problem for me... it does not display the environment, nor does it give me an arrow to point my way to where the car is. It shows me where I am standing, and it shows me the label for the car I left "out there somewhere", but it does NOT indicate which way should I start walking? It does not even seem to keep "North is Up" all the time... but, even if it did, I have to walk a long ways in some direction before I can notice if I am getting closer to, or father away from my car.

I had forgotten I even owned 'My Car Locator Free' until just a few minutes ago... bored out of my gourd here in the hospital, I started looking in Settings/App Mgr/Apps and reviewing all the apps in that list.

When I saw My Car Locator free, I brought it up and was surprised and overjoyed when it came up with a 3D Google Earth View of the hospital grounds, a perfect High Resolution image that allowed me to see where I am, and where the car is parked, and it has a "north arrow"..... Now, I know that if I walk over to aisle 'J' and then turn right and go to space #19, I will find my little Pontiac Vibe hidden between a big monster 4x4 truck and a huge commercial van blocking the view of the rest of the lot.

dunno about you guys, but a 3D view in High Resolution beats the hell out of a pale pink screen with some very faint little tiny white lines indicating road surfaces around the hospital building.... the building is just a blank white space.... there are NO images to see at all in Parkify.....
I own it, paid for it, and it is totally frigging useless to me.... especially in outside sunlight, even though my Samsung Note 4 has a very bright AMEloid screen on it....

am I missing something here? and are there other good parking apps out there?
I used to have another app but can't remember what it was called either.

Well, after writing this all up, decided to search thru Play Store and look to see what apps it says I have used before.

First Parkify Parkify - Where is my car? - Android Apps on Google Play
My Car Locator MyCar Locator Free - Android Apps on Google Play
this one is now my current favorite

and the ones below that I have used and discarded over time....
Find My Car - Android Apps on Google Play
Find My Car Locator - Android Apps on Google Play
Car Locator TRIAL - Android Apps on Google Play
Car Location Finder GPS - Android Apps on Google Play

What is your favorite Car Locator GPS app?
and why do you favor it over all the others?

Hi,
It is possible to locate the place where the car is parked if it is parked under clear sky.
Method 1,
After parking car
Open google map and fix location
Long touch on the blue dot and drop Pin
Drag the screen from bottom to top
Tap on the save button.
To get navigation to this place
Open google map menu> your places> saved>
Tap on the star ( saved place)> car icon> navigation icon.

Method 2,
Open the link below
Follow the instructions.

I will look into the Google Map tomorrow when I go to the hospital again, BUT, and this is a biggie, I have never, ever, seen Google Map give me Earth View... only the flat roads type view with out imagery.

I live on 6 acres of my own, I just walked outside and dropped a pin.
Walked around behind the house to where I can't see the other dropped pin spot.

this is even worse than Parkify!
totally useless, no imagery of what is around me, no arrow to the saved pin.
And no reference to True North at all.

Next suggestion please. so far, only just getting started, My Car Locator Free is still King of the Hill.... but, there is a better app out there somewhere. :)

Mind you, this has to be able to give High Resolution imagery to where you can actually determine within 6-9 meters of where you are standing....

Just now, GPS Status & Tools gave me a 6 meter accuracy reading.... that can easily locate me to within the space of one Car Parking Spot.

So far, none of the hospitals we have been to have multi-level indoor parking.... the big main hospital downtown Tulsa does though, but there, they have Valets who park your car for you, and then go get it and bring it back to you.... that was a huge relief the few times we were there.
