cardav, caldav native support

So I basically made the switch from an the old BlackBerry OS to a new blackberry android. Besides a couple of perks I really enjoyed about the old OS, Android for BB is pretty sweet. Android is general of course.

Today I just realized that BB did however spin off their own Android OS however. One of the biggest things for me was caldav, cardav and webdav, for programming web apps. The BB Android has this natively built it. I was pumped when I saw this, adding caldav and cardav was simple and easy. Then I picked up my wife's LG Android and saw this wasn't the case for this phone. Looking it up, looks like there is no native app for it.

I know there are other apps out there. I only saw paying one that had good reviews. But why wouldn't android tap into this as native functionality? Is caldav / cardav just not that awesome?

I saw this as a big perk moving my stuff over, plugged in an IMAP account, cardav, caldav and the only thing that was missing was moving over my texts. Plenty of apps for that!

I'd love to see more native support for these things, unless someone points me to something I fall in love with for Android.

If I were to try and get inside Google's head, my first thought would be that CalDav and CardDav would make it easier for users to integrate other mail platforms with gmail, and Google would prefer users use gmail exclusively. Now, that said, they are not so Apple-like that they go out of their way to make it hard to integrate, but they aren't going to include it.

FWIW, I use CalDAV-sync to keep my calendars across a couple of accounts in sync. Works just fine.
