case with awesome grip + good protection

_GalaxyS3

Newbie
This will be my first thread, and probably one of the most important ones as I want my Galaxy to be in top shape :)

I had a really nice case for my Blackberry with lots of protection. It was great when it was summer (warm hands) but when winter came around, with cold hands, there was very little grip.

So, I am looking for a case with lots of grip but also solid protection.

Thank you in advance.

Have a look at Otterbox. I've got their "Commuter" case, and it certainly seems very robust and grippy. I've dropped the phone once, although only a short distance, and it just shrugged and carried on. I like the way it protrudes around the front, so as to protect the screen from drop damage but, on the negative side, it adds a lot of thickness and bulk to the phone (which for me isn't an issue) and, more frustratingly, the nice, clicky volume and power buttons do become pretty cludgy and unresponsive, due to them being under the rubber sleeve. Still, on the whole, I do feel far less concerned about dropping my phone and have become used to the case's quirks.

Have a look at the Spigen / SGP cases on Amazon or ebay - they come highly recommended. You also get one of their fantastic crystal clear screen protectors free!

i too have the otter box commuter, but if you want even more grip looks at the otter box defender

did you maybe mean "more protection" when you said that?
isn't the grip the same for both of those? and just the protection level is different? defender felt too heavy when I handled it at best buy, I would go for a commuter instead

It's always difficult buying online, specially when there is soooo many of these cases around
After hours of research, I will try these 2 first and will report back:

SEIDIO | ACTIVE Case

Acase Samsung Galaxy S3 case - Superleggera PRO Dual Layer Protection : Case
in white

If they do not make me happy, I will probably order the commuter

Thanks so much for everyone's reply

the defender is rubber on the outside which i find has more grip than the hard plastic of the commuter
