Root [CDMA] Finally got my 3d, now a laundry list of ?'s...

I ended up buying an evo 3d, even though sprint was offering me an early upgrade, I have a feeling we will be seeing some LTE goodness in the near future, so I bought my 3d refurbed.


But now that I've had it for a few hours I am looking to root it, are the instructions listed at the top of the root forum still good to use?. I am assuming everything is up to date on the phone since it did the whole activation/checking for updates thing.

And on the custom roms...such as mik's runny, does the 3d camera still work? or do you lose that when flashing custom roms?.


I am not new to rooting..just new to the phone.

Rooting instructions work.
Just depends of you are H-boot 1.5 or lucky and have a prior build
(refurb is probably 1.5)

1.5 HTC unlock method
1.4 or earlier - Revolutionary -

Most Roms are Sense based so 3d camera Etc works fine.
If you go AOSP or MIUI, ICS you will lose...well possibly lots of functions.

Unfortunetly I am 1.5, is there a way I can root with the HTC method, then get a full s-off and remove the watermark?

Not yet. HTC is the only way to go at this time.

Well crap, guess ill have a watermark. I didn't buy the phone through sprint anyways, so its not like they would make it easy turning it in for an issue.

The thread on the top is current. It's not as filled out as I would like, but it contains a lot of information to get you started. One of the links is to my guide that will walk you through every step. You can find it here:

It was written with HBOOT 1.5 in mind.

And if you bought it refurb, you don't have much of a warranty to void, anyhow.
