Cell phone fair usage policy

I have a contract with my cell phone operator with unlimited data in my home country, but in the EU my mobile phone operator has a fair usage policy of 12GB. If I route all my data through a VPN in my home country, would I still be able to use my unlimited data plan in the EU? Thank you for your help

Probably not... As the data would still have to travel through the 12gb ISP first... Even though they can't see what it is... They can still see it moving down their pipe
