Cell Radio

Hi. Im having problems with my battery usage it is draining very fast and when i checked it out on the device the main drain is the something called 'cell radio' which is using well over over 50% of the batter even when its in my pocket. What is cell radio and can/how do i turn it off.

Cell radio is the part of the software that finds and uses a mobile network (cell) signal. When you have a weak/no signal it will use more battery.

Turning on wifi or using 2G networks only may help.

There's usually a "use only 2G networks" (or similar) option in the mobile network settings which might help whilst you're at work, but only if your phone is picking up a weak 3G signal instead of a strong 2G one.
