Certified Pre-Owned

I would to upgrade to the DX from my Eris, but I have a couple of questions. If I elect for a CPO X does Verizon offer them in-store or do I have to purchase one another way? And if they do do I still have the option to opt into the insurance plan for the phone?

Personally i would stay away from pre owns. I had got 3 till i finally got one that worked right.

CPO's are only available for order, no in-store stock. They come with a 1 year warranty and you can add insurance(i believe)

Corporate stores have some CPO's in stock. Almost never true about "Authorized Retailers". I have personally bought some and one recently from an actual "Corporate" store in Charlottesville, VA.

I got my D1 CPO. I have had zero problems with it as of yet and have had it almost a year. My wife who got hers 2 months after mine, she is have problems in a major way. I think it depends on what was wrong with the phone in the first place for it to be a CPO, and what all the fix when it is repared.

Say some got it and in the 30 days a new phone came out. And Traded it back in. That might be a great phone to get.

Now the one that sat at the bottom of the stream for a week in hunting season, Not so much.

The retail price of the refurbs online is the same retail price as a new one... am i missing something?

They are typically and where from 50 - 100, depending on the age of the phone usually.

Something to keep in mind, and I'm posting this to help avoid any confusion.

There are two Certified Pre-Owned programs: One is on the verizonwireless.com website, where you can purchase pre-owned phones with a two-year contract and get them at a slightly cheaper price than new. The other program is through direct corporate stores or customer care, has a vastly smaller selection of phones, but does not require an upgrade or two-year contract. The second program is specifically for customers that don't have an upgrade or insurance but need to get a phone.

I'm interested in the people who have gotten CPO phones (from vzw.com) and had a bad experience.

How bad was it? Did VZW replace the phone? Was there a hassle?

The Verizon Wireless site has CPO Droid1s for $30...

New Droid Xs and Droid 2s are $200. CPOs are $100 and $50 respectively. That seems like a substantial savings to me...

cust svc/tech support and corp stores can order the cpo's, most dont carry them in store. Shipping is overnight so as long as the order is in before 5pm est you will get it next day in most cases.

link?
The only thing i could find online was full retail price for preowned phones. We are talking about not using an upgrade correct? I could get a pre owned droid for $560...

Is it me or "certified pre-owned" is just salesman's talk for used/second hand?

Anyways, is it specific how old those things are?

They are used, but supposed to he tested/ refurbished. I have mixed feeling on the quality. Mainly because in the past i have received so much junk from them. I know other have had a lot of luck with cpo's

When you get the used phones, do they list anything about the previous use? Like repair history or anything like that? As a rules, I don't buy used because I just don't know what happened prior to the purchase.

No they don't tell you anything. They say that the phones are refurbished, so any issues are supposed to be fixed.

Just takes me to the main verizon page. When i looked at the section i found before, it gave decent deals on 2 year and 1 year upgrades, but buying off contract was pretty much retail.
