CES result: no newer QWERTY Verizon Androids (even w/o GSM?)

I have seen a lot of posts lately from CES, and can't always find all the details in the ocean of recent verbiage.

But would someone please confirm my conclusion: right now, for Verizon customers, there is no other alternative if you want QWERTY hardware keyboard than the Motorola Droid.

I was hoping for something like a Droid with GSM, but no such luck for now. Hopefully at the MWC in February.

And I was almost ready to just buy a Motorola Droid, but then the latest MaximumPC mag came and it said that the Driod's keyboard was worst they had seen, and they strongly advised folks to wait for better Android HW. I played with one for a few minutes at a store, and the top row of keys did feel hard to reach confidently.

Unless I missed another candidate, probably I'm waiting another month or three, I am sure more will be out well before summer. Thanks in advance for any help here.

As of right now you would be correct. Nothing with a QWERTY has been announced. The HTC Bravo or Incredible or whatever will likely be running Sense and out around Aprilish 2010...however it's going to be a touch-only.

Droid 2 will probably be designed spring/summer and release either fall or holiday 2010. I think I'm just going to go with a Droid and enjoy my phone for a year and if something REALLY comes out amazing...I will buy the new phone, resign a 2-year contract and sell the older one (which there will still be a huge market for)

Don't wait so long you end up just using an annoying phone while you wait for the diamond in the rough
