For my Computing course at university, I take a group project class (it's awful, I know, geeks shouldn't work in groups and do public speaking).
My current project is to build a computer rig that can be used for rendering a 3D film, something akin to Toy Story, but probably more detailed, and using current methods/technology. The computers would be set up in a render farm to work together, just like Weta Digital (for example) does.
