Change by Android 12

There's one thing that Android 12 removed on my Pixel and I'm not exactly happy about it. I enjoyed the "sunrise" feature of Bedtime Mode which gradually lightened the screen to simulate a sunrise rather than being treated to a dark room when the alarm goes off.

Is there any possible way this can be restored? Probably not, but if anyone is aware about it, I'd appreciate being enlightened.

Thanks

I highly recommended an app called Twilight, that does the job, pretty much you can set the settings to do a reddish tint to your cell phone, and you can make it just right on whatever it is though.. In android 11 there is a setting as well too called Nightlight.

I believe the Android 11 Nightlight may have been what provided the sunrise effect though I'm not sure. I really liked the way it was in the last few months as the sunrise changed from having the whole screen one color, which brightened from dark orange to yellow, to being a more realistic effect of the upper 2/3 - 3/4 of the screen being a blue that gradually lightened with the lower part being an orange going to yellow. I thought it pretty cool. I never thought they'd remove that. Just dumb.

Could be this feature is from the manufacturer and is specific to the device you've got there.? I've not seen this "sunrise" feature on any phones I've had.

I can't say I ever noticed it in my recently retired Pixel 2 (A11). But it might be something I turned off long ago and forgot existed - I'll check when I'm next near that phone.

But if it disappeared during the A12 update there's probably not much to do. Search the settings in case it just got moved, I guess.

Google do sometimes do stupid things, e.g. they removed the ability to keep the screen awake by touching the fingerprint sensor in A10, presumably because the Pixel 4 didn't have one, and thereby degraded the functionality of every other model.
