Change Default Music Player?

I purchased a new Android Auto Head Unit and wish to use a different player other than Google. I can't seem to find a way to keep Google Music player from launching and would like to use a more friendly player instead. I have tried to uninstall the Google Music Player only to have it reappear again.

I'm on Oreo...

Any suggestions?

Resolved: While displaying Google Music Player 'touch' the headphone icon again and any other Android Auto compatible players Installed on your device) will display and allow you to select.
