Change Default Zoom on Browser

I'm looking to either change or disable to feature that causes websites to be viewed fully zoomed out by default. It's rather annoying to have to keep zooming in on every page I view. My old HTC Hero always zoomed in perfectly, but my new HTC Evo Design defaults to completely zoomed out.

I changed the default zoom level (while in the browser > menu > more > settings > Default Zoom > Close) but it didn't seem to make a difference.

I tried searching, but no luck. I know I can't be the only one annoyed by this!

That's usually fixed by starting the browser, menu->settings (that may be under "more"), and turning off the setting "Open pages in overview".
